Precious Medals: Collectables and Gifts

Medals for special occasions, calendar medals and medal series have a long tradition. These issues offer some advantages – for example an exceptionally high relief, the size and especially low mintage numbers.

The latest medal series with six silver issues has the title “The Emperor’s Ships“, it tells the history of Austria as a naval power. A complete novelty is the first Austro-Hungarian medal issue since the First World War. The set consists of two silver issues. One is dedicated to Emperor Francis Joseph, the other one to Emperor Charles.

Medals are not only appropriate for collecting. The Austrian Mint offers medals for special occasions such as birth, christening, first communion or wedding. Provided with a free engraving, such medals are special individual items and become long-lasting memories.
